Kos is a tourist developed island with a surface area of approximately 300 km2. It belongs to the Dodecanese and is near the Turkish coast. It is a relatively flat island and therefore known as the cycle island of Greece. Around Kos town there are even cycle tracks. Kos also has a mountain of 846 meters in altitude. It is a green mountain and the drive to the mountain village of Zia is magnificent. Also the view from Zia is fantastic.
Kos is the birthplace of Hippocrates, the founder of medical science. The tree under which he taught still stands in the center of Kos town, it is one of the oldest trees in the world. Kos has a varied landscape, a rich cultural history with beautiful monuments and has some gorgeous (sand) beaches.
Kos Town can get very busy, expecially in high season, and has a vibrant night life.
Kos Town is an attraction itself with the castle, the Mandraki Harbour, the Agorá, the tree where Hippocrates taught
Nisyros is a small, round volcanic island. Visit the crater where fumes come out of the ground and the smell of sulfur is very strong.
Zia is a mountain village which offers magnificent views. It is in the middle of the nature between olive and fruit trees.
Embros Therme is a thermal source and has an unmistakable smell of sulfur. The source is supposed to have medicinal purposes
