We have just returned from the Ionian Islands / part of our mainland tour. It was a wonderful holiday. Thank you very much for putting together such a varied itinerary!

Here are a few tips and tricks that you may find useful:
Sivota: when planning our itinerary, we saw that Dodoni was on the route and decided to visit it. A well-deserved recommendation. We found Sivota itself very warm and touristy, but you can take some very nice trips from here: Parga, the Acheron River, a day trip by water taxi to two beautiful beaches (luckily, the boat has free parasols to borrow). What we also found fun and authentic was the bay and beach ‘on the other side’: Plataria Beach. The only criticism of the hotel is the impersonal nature of the hotel staff, both behind the counter and at breakfast. Otherwise, the hotel was perfect, the location and the room were impeccable!

Meteora: absolutely fantastic, and so is the hotel! It's really nice to walk around after the monasteries close: the sun is setting beautifully, all the tourists have left, and Kastraki is also a very pleasant place to grab a bite to eat in the evening. Of course, we visited the monasteries early in the morning, and even though it was Sunday, we always had a parking space for our little car. At the end of the day, we went even further to Eagle's Nest in Vlachavi. Very beautiful view! Highly recommended to have a beer!

Ioannina and the charming Antique Hotel: we stayed in a hotel in the city (wonderful). Just a place to rest, but of course we took a trip to the lake (Ali Pasha's house on the island!), visited the castle with its various museums (plus the goldsmith's museum located in the old kitchens of the fort: recommended!) and we especially liked the streets reminiscent of the Kasbah. We chatted with our neighbours over breakfast, which was great fun.

Paxi: this is where we met our children. They already had a pleasant night in Corfu town! Paxoi is a very relaxed island for a 3-night stay. It is important to hire a boat as early as possible in high season. Fortunately, the third owner helped us. We sailed around the entire island in a 30 hp boat. It was a bit intense. The east side was easy, but the west side was difficult. We don't recommend it to others, but our owner saw no problem with it... It was great to anchor in Lakka and the blue caves.
Especially in the evening, it's wonderful to walk around the harbour in the town of Gaios when all the day trippers have left. The resort was wonderful with, once again, very helpful and friendly staff. It was great that there was a shuttle service to Gaios!

Corfu: the island was very busy. Driving takes longer than you think each time. Kaminaki Villas is ideally located on two beautiful bays (with pebble beaches, luckily we already had water shoes) with some nice tavernas. We had to get used to the villa itself. It was a little more ‘run down’ than all our other locations (doors and beds in particular). What was very reasonable was that we could change the departure time to 6 p.m. instead of 10 a.m. free of charge, so that we had a real last day of holiday (we didn't fly back until 11 p.m.). Overall, we would not recommend Corfu directly or perhaps in the form of an island tour.

Boat trips, transfers, vouchers and car hire were all organised optimally. We only found out just before the Igoumenitsa-Paxos crossing that Auto Union did not have an office at the port, but that we had to arrange a ‘meet and greet’, which went very well as we were there very early.

Many thanks again, all 6 of us had a wonderful holiday!"
