We did the 22-day trip Athens - Paros - Naxos - Santorini - Crete and it was fantastic!
After an excellent flight with Aegean Airlines, a very enthusiastic cab driver was ready and drove us through Athens to our hotel like a guide. On arrival he handed us
the promised envelope with all the vouchers and ferry tickets. The Hotel Arion is a great hotel within walking distance of the center of Athens.
On our first real day of vacation, Let's Meet in Athens bike tour was on the program - a real winner! The Dutch guide got to know us in a very pleasant way and showed us less famous parts of Athens. Great.
On the advice of this guide, we visited the Acropolis at 5pm the next day, perfect advice! No one was there for us at the checkout and at the “end of the day” sun, the Acropolis was a real “picture”. Before our departure from Athens, we had to get up early because the cab arrived at 6:00 am to take us to the port.
After about four hours of sailing, we arrived in Paros. What a wonderful island! The capital Parikia and our town Naousa are both equally beautiful, typically Greek! Anthos Apartments was absolutely perfect and beautifully decorated. The staff and owners were adorable and the hotel very comfortable. After days in the heat of Athens, the pool was lovely.
At our next destination, Naxos, the beaches were whiter than white and the sea was bluer than blue. Delicious! Since Naxos is a big island, we had a private tour done with VIP Limo Van. The guide told us a lot about his island of Naxos and took us to a pottery workshop, a distillery, an olive oil factory and of course past the remains of an ancient temple. This visit is also highly recommended.
Then we went to Santorini. The cabs and ferry were again well organized and on time! On this island, we stayed in the town of Kamari at Nissia Apartments in a beautiful,
clean but small apartment where we spent our days with breakfast on the beach. In Santorini, everything is as beautiful as the guidebook photos. You can take beautiful photos of the “white houses with blue roofs”.
At the end of the afternoon, we boarded the Santorini ferry bound for Crete.
What a wonderful moment for this trip, as you can admire the magnificent sun in the sea below as you sail out to sea.
After a hotel stay in Heraklion, we took the rental car to Mirtos. And Mirtos is, as Andros had told us in advance, a quiet, picturesque little village in south-east Crete. At Kastro Apartments, we had the whole property for a week on the top floor of the complex. A very large apartment with a large balcony overlooking the mountains and the sea. The little boulevard is pleasantly Greek with many restaurants serving delicious food! The Sarakina Gorge is well worth a visit, less than ten minutes away by car, starting at a very small parking lot. Magnificent.
All in all, we had a wonderful vacation with our teenagers and enjoyed all the good things Greece has to offer. Beautiful nature and culture, beautiful
beaches, very welcoming residents and all perfectly organized by "Island hopping Greece"
Thank you!
