We had a wonderful two weeks in Crete. Everything was well organised. The apartments were good, we enjoyed them and it exceeded our expectations.
After a week, we discovered that the trunk of the hire car would not lock. It looked like it was locked, and if you pulled the handle, it wouldn't open immediately, but if you pulled it again, it would open. We didn't use the car a lot, so it wasn't a problem, but on the last day, our luggage was inside and we still wanted to do something. We ended up at the Cretaquarium and parked the car with its back against the car park fence, and nothing bad happened.

It was a big coincedence to meet a family in the Sarakina Gorge who had done the same trip we did withyou, but in reverse. They were Flemish, and on the last day, the children had a great time all afternoon in the pool and on the terrace. There were more families with teenagers at Villa Kastro, which was fun for the children. The children also thought Sougia was fine. We thought it was perfect. Lammert and I drove back to Paleochora to withdraw money, but we agreed that we liked Sougia better (especially since Lammert liked it). Paleochora also seemed fine to me, but the small scale of Sougia was great. We did the Samaria Gorge and then had a good swim. The boat trip back was well worth it. With our daughter, we walked to Lissos in the late afternoon and back. What a lovely walk it was.

We went via Malia on the way back to Heraklion. We wanted to visit it anyway. We just drove through it, but it's really very different. On the last day, we had lunch between Hersonissos and Heraklion in a beach bar. Next to us was a beach with seven rows of umbrellas with sunbeds and no space to lay out your own towel. Yes, we didn't see that in Sougia, Plakias and Mirtos.
We would like to thank you for the good service and for your advice on going to southern Crete.

Best regards,
Allen
