The holidays were endless!
The combination of Santorini and the south coast of Crete was great. As you immediately pointed out when booking, a few days are enough to enjoy Santorini, no matter how beautiful it is.
Our dream of finally seeing white Greek houses with blue doors, windows and domes (the hallmark of Greece) came true. Loizos Apartments was very good. Friendly staff and located just outside the hustle and bustle of Fira.
The ferry connection from Santorini to Crete went quite smoothly. Due to the boat being late, the one delivering our rentalcar was not at the port. After a phone call, he arrived within fifteen minutes. We drove to Mirtos in the dark. We found this quite a challenge with young children. It was certainly doable, but we would have preferred to know in advance that the ferry from Santorini was in the late afternoon.
In Crete, we stayed at Villa Kastro in Mirtos in a spacious apartment right across from the pool, so we had an easy view of our children in the pool from our terrace. The appearance with the beautiful flower garden was magnificent. The owners are very friendly. The beds at Villa Kastro are quite hard. Not a problem for the children, but a bit of a struggle for us.
We fell in love with the little boulevard in Mirtos. In short, a wonderful place to enjoy yourself.
Plakias was also a lovely experience. Although it is more touristy than Mirtos, it can still be called small-scale. At Manolis Apartments, we were again in a spacious apartment. The kitchen in particular offered a lot of comfort by Greek standards. The owner told us on arrival: ‘You are from Andros, so you get air conditioning for free.’ With the tropical temperatures rising, this was a great result! The location was also magnificent. It's a shame about the current view of an unfinished apartment/hotel complex directly opposite Manolis Apartments. Obviously, the accommodation itself has no influence on this, and we hope that construction will continue so that the view will be more acceptable.
We appreciated your recommendations for visiting the region; we visited several places. Preveli Beach surprised us! Truly beautiful, like the Caribbean. And now that we've seen Chania, we really want to go back.
Greece is rightfully our favorite holiday destination, and we will definitely return.
Thank you for your efforts! Despite the fact that it was done via the internet, it was really nice to be treated so personally.
